Before the Ride

What equipment is provided? Are helmets available? Are helmets required?

We do provide everything the you would need equipment wise, including helmets, free of cost. We require that minors (anyone under the age of 18) wear a helmet, though they are optional for adults.

What should I wear?

We require that all riders wear secure closed toe shoes with a back (sneakers or boots). We do not allow any sandals, flip flops, Crocs, high-heels, or Virbam FiveFingers.

Can I complete my waiver ahead of time?

We do not currently have the option to do waivers ahead of time. We apologize for any inconvenience.

When are you open?

We are open year round! The actual days and times vary with the amount of daylight we have and our anticipated rider count so keep an eye on our Google listing or give us a call for the exact hours of operation.

Payment

Cancellation Policy

We prefer cancellations be done over the phone, as we cannot check our e-mail throughout the day.

  • E-mail cancellations will still be honored, but your card may be charged before we get to the e-mail and we will then have to issue a refund.
  • Cancellations must be made before 2 hours scheduled ride time.
  • You will receive a full refund if you cancel 2 hours before your scheduled ride.
  • To ensure prompt cancellation please call us at 570-839-8725 and, if it is outside our business hours, please leave us a message.

Weather Policy

We ride rain or shine, and even in the snow! In event of extreme weather conditions, we will call you if we need to cancel or reschedule your ride.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express.

I'm staying at a local resort and got a package through them. How does that work?

The resort/hotel will give you a voucher that will cover the cost of your ride. When you make your reservation with them give us a call and have your confirmation number for your stay handy: we’ll take that and then make the reservation for horseback riding.

PLEASE NOTE: if you arrive for your ride without your voucher you will need to pay for the ride out of pocket. Please ensure that the front desk gives you a voucher when you check in or before you arrive.

How far in advance do I have to book?

All trail rides are cut off for online booking 24 hours in advance. Call us 570-839-8725 with any day-of booking questions.

You can join the waitlist, in which case you will be notified when a spot opens up for the day and time you’re interested in. The waitlist is a first-come-first-serve basis for bookings.

The Ride Itself

Can I ride if I have never ridden a horse before?

Absolutely! We specialize in total beginners, so even if you’ve never SEEN a live horse before we can get you up and out riding.

Is it safe to ride a horse if I am pregnant or have back injuries?

No, it is not safe to go horseback riding if you’re pregnant or have back injuries.

How many people can go on a horseback ride at one time?

We only allow one person on each horse; we do not allow double riding as it is inherently dangerous, particularly so if neither rider is experienced.

Will we gallop during our ride?

No, our rides are walk/trot rides only. As well, during certain weather conditions (or at the guide’s discretion) we may do a walk only ride.

Can we ride on our own without a guide?

No, we do not allow any rides without our guides.

Restrictions

Are reservations required?

While we do accept walk-in bookings, we strongly recommend reservations. We have a limited number of horses and guides, and we tend to book on quickly in the warmer seasons and during holidays. 

Weight Limit or Other Requirements

We have a weight limit of 240 pounds, though this is dependent on height. If you have anyone in your party who is close to or over 240 pounds please get their exact height and weight and give us a call or send us an e-mail and we can see if we have a horse that can accommodate them.

We also have a minimum height requirement of 50” for both adults and children. Children must be at least 7 years old to ride.

How do I decide which ride is best for me?

Our 45 Minute Group ride is perfect for people who have never been but want to get out to experience nature in a whole new way! If you want something more intimate the Private Ride is 100% the way to go, particularly if you have any COVID related concerns.
Our Pony Rides are perfect for children who are too young or too short to do the full trail ride. Or, if you have a number of children or just aren’t feeling up for the adventure of the trail ride, the wagon ride is a great way to get contact with horses.

Do I get to pick the horse I ride?

We do not allow you to choose your own horse, they will be assigned by the guides.

Other

Can I feed the horses?

You can bring snacks for them, yes, but we do not allow our horses to be hand fed (teaching them that hands = food is not a good idea). We will leave the treat for the horse of your choice in the stall at feeding time at the end of the night.

Can I work for you or volunteer?

Feel free to fill out an application while you are here! While we are not always hiring we do keep applications on file for a full year and if an opening does pop up we will reach out to you.

We unfortunately are not accepting volunteers at this time.
