04 Mar The 5 Best Waterfalls to Visit in the Pocono Mountains
Enjoy Poconos Waterfalls
Everybody loves a bit of nature and there are few natural things more enchanting than a waterfall. If you’re traveling to North Eastern Pennsylvania sometime soon, check out the waterfalls listed below!
The spring is far and away the best time to visit waterfalls in the Poconos. The combination of rainfall
and the winter melt turns small creeks into amazing spectacles! We love to go on waterfall tours in
Pennsylvania during the spring to see nature’s power. Below, we’ve compiled a list of the best
waterfalls to see depending on the difficulty of access.
We may be horseback riding stable but that doesn’t mean we don’t know any other ways to have fun!
The Best Waterfalls in the Poconos:
- Hike to a Waterfall in Rickett’s Glen State Park
- Explore Hawk Falls Trail Hike
- Witness Bushkill Falls
1 ) The Best Advanced Waterfall Hike
One of the best hikes in all of Pennsylvania is at Rickett’s Glen State Park which is also home to 22 separate waterfalls, including one which is 94 feet tall. The terrain is tough, and there’s no “short route”: once you start you’d best be prepared to keep going! Of course, the view is totally worth it.
2) The Best Intermediate Waterfall Hike
If you’re looking to go hiking to a waterfall but think that Rickett’s Glen might be too much for you, a good intermediate option is Hickory Run State Park. A 0.6-mile hike down Hawk Falls Trail will lead you to a 25-foot waterfall and, best of all, you won’t be winded when you get there! There are plenty of other options at Hickory Run too, including swimming in the lake and the stunning Boulder Field, so it’s great for a day trip outdoors.
3) The Best Easy/Groomed Trail Waterfall Hike
Hiking is great but sometimes you just need some steps to help you out! Bushkill Falls is a series of falls with highly groomed trails connecting them… so much so that a good portion of the trails are wooden walkways like those pictured above! While it would still be difficult for the elderly or those who are handicapped it’s great for those who aren’t quite ready for a true hike but want to get out there and see something beautiful. Be warned though, all this grooming comes at a cost, and entry to Bushkill Falls is not free.
