Conveniently located in the beautiful Poconos Mountains, Mountain Creek Riding Stable offers public and private horseback riding near Philadelphia. These guided horseback rides are scenic and leisurely, are ideal for beginner riders.

Expect to be with us for a little over an hour for signing in, handling instruction, familiarizing yourself with the horses, mounting up and the trail ride.

Public Group Trail Rides

$45 per person

Public group horseback trail rides are beginner-friendly and make for a great first experience trail riding in Pennsylvania. Seasoned riders are always welcome to join us for this easy-paced ride as well, but this is a leisurely and scenic trail ride through the Poconos.

Time on the trail is roughly 45-50 minutes, but please expect to be with our guides for a little over an hour for signing in, horse handling instruction, mounting and basic riding tips.


Private Group Trail Rides

$75 per person

For a more intimate ride through the woods for a special occasion or simply a more engaging experience for a beginning rider, a private trail rides is a great horseback riding experience.

For more than 2 riders on a private booking, please call us to schedule your private ride at (570) 839-8725 to ensure we have enough horses available for your group. Groups that have more than 10 riders may inquire about a private ride discount.

  • Children must be at least 7 years old and 50″ tall to ride on our trail.
  • Weight restrictions do apply for the safety of our horses and riders. The weight limit is 240 lbs., though this is dependent on height. Please contact us for details.
  • Helmets are required for minors (anyone under 18).
  • We provide helmets free of charge for any rider.
  • Please wear secure shoes, no sandals or flip-flops.

  • Please arrive 15-30 minutes prior to the scheduled hour of your ride.

What To Wear / Bring

  • Boots with a short heel ( 1 to 1.5 inches ideally) or sturdy closed-toed shoes
  • T-Shirts (for warm weather)
  • Long sleeved shirts/jackets (for cold weather)
  • Gloves (if desired, only necessary in winter)
  • Helmets are provided free on-site, although not required for ages 18+
Requirements / Policies

We have a weight limit of 240 pounds, though this is dependent on height. If you have anyone in your party who is close to or over 240 pounds please get their exact height and weight and give us a call or send us an e-mail and we can see if we have a horse that can accommodate them.

We also have a minimum height requirement of 50” for both adults and children. Children must be at least 7 years old to ride.

Cancellation Policy

We prefer cancellations be done over the phone, as we cannot check our e-mail throughout the day.

  • E-mail cancellations will still be honored, but your card may be charged before we get to the e-mail and we will then have to issue a refund.
  • Cancellations must be made before 2 hours scheduled ride time.
  • You will receive a full refund if you cancel 2 hours before your scheduled ride.
  • To ensure prompt cancellation please call us at 570-839-8725 and, if it is outside our business hours, please leave us a message.
Booking in Advance

All trail rides are cut off for online booking 24 hours in advance. Call us at 570-839-8725 with any day-of booking questions.

COVID / Safety Policy

We have changed some procedures in response to COVID, you can find the full COVID Response for Mountain Creek Riding Stable online.

  • Our gift shop is currently closed until further notice and all business will be conducted outside.
  • When you arrive please go around the side of the barn to the window for assistance. This also means that we have no indoor bathroom facilities and instead we have a porta-potty on the property.
  • Our staff will wear masks when interacting with guests. While we ask that guests wear them as well, they are not required once on horseback, everyone is more than 6 feet apart and so masks are not necessary.
  • Our team regularly sanitizes surfaces that guests may come into contact with.
