At Mountain Creek Riding Stable, we seek to provide a wholesome family experience in the Pocono Mountains. From guided horseback riding for families, to wagon rides, to our pony rides for small children, we offer a variety of family activities for all ages. If you’re on a family getaway to the Poconos, then you’ve come down the right trail! Make a day of it with horseback trail rides, wagon rides, pony rides for the kids, and a picnic at our riding stables. Enjoy the peaceful outdoor setting, away from the hustle and bustle of the cities.
The horse-drawn wagon ride here at Mountain Creek Riding Stable is a 45-minute ride that goes along the same trails as our horseback rides. Our wagon will seat up to 10 adults comfortably with a maximum of 12 adults. This is a great option for families who have children that are too small to go on a horseback ride, allowing them to still have a horse experience. Additionally, a great benefit of our wagon rides is that if you come with a group of people that want to try different options, the wagon can follow right along with the horses on the trail, keeping your entire group together. Check out our Wagon Rides for more details.
We offer pony rides for small children and kids too young for a horseback ride. The pony ride consists of three circles, lead by one of our trail guides on a full-sized horse. This is a safe horse activity for when you want to expose your kids to horses but they don’t have the attention span or physical ability for a full trail ride.
We prefer cancellations be done over the phone, as we cannot check our e-mail throughout the day. E-mail cancellations will still be honored, but your card may be charged before we get to the e-mail and we will then have to issue a refund. To ensure prompt cancellation please call us at 570-839-8725 and, if it is outside our business hours, please leave us a message.
All trail rides are cut off for online booking 24 hours in advance. Call us at 570-839-8725 with any day-of booking questions.
If you do not see availability online for the date and time you’d like to book, then all rides are full. We do not provide availability via e-mail.
Children must be at least 7 years old and at least 50″ tall to ride horseback solo. Additionally, there’s a weight limit of 240 pounds, which may vary depending on height—so please share accurate measurements if someone in your party is near that limit.
No problem! We offer pony rides, which are ideal for younger children. They consist of three guided circles and are led by one of our trail guides on a full-sized horse—perfect for little ones who aren’t quite ready for a full ride.
Yes! Our horse-drawn wagon rides run along the same scenic trails. It’s a wonderful way for families to stick together—especially when some want to ride and others prefer to watch.
