Horseback Riding FAQs

The Most Popular Horseback Riding Questions Asked

Before the Ride

What is the best time of year for horseback riding in the Poconos?

We ride year-round — lush greenery in spring and summer, vibrant foliage in fall, and magical snow-covered trails in winter. For fewer crowds, try midweek (especially Monday) or during the winter season.

Do your rides pass through woods, fields, or both?

Yes — rides begin with a creek crossing, then continue through wooded trails with waterfalls, gentle hills, and open scenic stretches.

Will we see wildlife on the trail?

Definitely! Common sightings include deer, wild turkeys, birds, and chipmunks. On rare occasions, you might spot foxes, raccoons, or other wildlife — always at a safe distance.

What does the horseback riding experience include?

Each ride includes a guided mount and saddle adjustment, matching you with the right horse, scenic trail exploration, friendly guide interaction, photo assistance (no videos), and a safe return to the barn.

What equipment is provided? Are helmets available? Are helmets required?

We provide all necessary equipment, including helmets, at no extra cost. Helmets are required for riders under 18 and optional for adults.

What should I wear?

Secure, closed-toe shoes with a back (sneakers or boots) are required — no sandals, flip-flops, Crocs, high-heels, or Vibram FiveFingers. Wear comfortable pants and weather-appropriate clothing.

Can I complete my waiver ahead of time?

We do not currently offer waivers in advance. All paperwork is completed on-site before your ride.

When are you open?

We are open year-round, with hours varying seasonally based on daylight and rider volume. Check our Google listing or call for current hours.

Bookings & Reservations

What is your cancellation policy?

We prefer cancellations by phone for fastest processing. E-mail cancellations will be honored, but your card may be charged before we see them. Cancel at least 2 hours before your ride for a full refund. Call us at 570-839-8725; leave a message after hours.

How far in advance do I need to book?

Online bookings close 24 hours before the ride. For same-day reservations, call us at 570-839-8725.

I didn’t see availability online, do you have availability? How do I make a booking?

If a date or time isn’t available online, that ride is full. We do not provide availability via e-mail — please call to check.

Do you take walk-ins for horseback riding tours?

While we accept walk-ins when possible, we strongly recommend reservations, especially in peak seasons and on holidays.

I'm staying at a local resort and got a package through them. How does that work?

Your resort/hotel will provide a voucher covering your ride. Call us with your reservation confirmation to book. Bring the voucher when you arrive; without it, you’ll need to pay out-of-pocket.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express.

What if it rains during my scheduled ride?

We ride rain or shine, and even in the snow. In extreme weather, we will call you to cancel or reschedule.

Family & Kids

What age, height, and weight requirements are there for children?

Children must be at least 7 years old and at least 50″ tall to ride horseback solo. There’s a 240 lb weight limit, which may vary by height — provide accurate measurements if close to the limit.

What if my child is too young or small for a trail ride?

We offer pony rides — three gentle circles led by a guide on a full-sized horse — perfect for younger children.

Can the whole family stay together even if some members don’t ride?

Yes — our horse-drawn wagon rides follow the same scenic trails as horseback rides.

What should families wear for the ride?

Comfortable pants, closed-toed shoes with a short heel (1–1.5 inches ideal), weather-appropriate clothing, and optional gloves. Helmets are provided and required for riders under 18.
