At Mountain Creek Riding Stable, we seek to provide a wholesome family experience in the Pocono Mountains. From guided horseback riding for kids, to wagon rides, to our pony rides for small children, we offer a variety of family activities for all ages. If you’re on a family getaway to the Poconos, then you’ve come down the right trail! The horse-drawn wagon ride here at Mountain Creek Riding Stable is a 45-minute ride that goes along the same trails as our horseback rides. Our wagon will seat up to 10 adults comfortably with a maximum of 12 adults. This is a great option for families who have children that are too small to go on a horseback ride, allowing them to still have a horse experience. Additionally, a great benefit of our wagon rides is that if you come with a group of people that want to try different options, the wagon can follow right along with the horses on the trail, keeping your entire group together. Pony Rides for Kids
We offer pony rides for small children and kids too young for a horseback ride. The pony ride consists of three circles, lead by one of our trail guides on a full-sized horse. This is a safe horse activity for when you want to expose your kids to horses but they don’t have the attention span or physical ability for a full trail ride.

- Comfortable Pants
- Gloves (if desired, not necessary except in the winter)
- Boots with a short heel ( 1 to 1.5 inches ideally) or sturdy closed-toed shoes
- T-Shirts – warm weather
- Long sleeved shirts/jackets – cold weather
- Helmet – provided free on site, although not required for ages 18+
FAQs for Trail Rides
What is your cancellation policy?
We prefer cancellations be done over the phone, as we cannot check our e-mail throughout the day. E-mail cancellations will still be honored, but your card may be charged before we get to the e-mail and we will then have to issue a refund. To ensure prompt cancellation please call us at 570-839-8725 and, if it is outside our business hours, please leave us a message.
How far in advance do I need to book?
All trail rides are cut off for online booking 24 hours in advance. Call us at 570-839-8725 with any day-of booking questions.
Is there a weight limit or other requirements for people riding horses?
We have a weight limit of 240 pounds, though this is dependent on height. If you have anyone in your party who is close to or over 240 pounds please get their exact height and weight and give us a call or send us an e-mail and we can see if we have a horse that can accommodate them.
We also have a minimum height requirement of 50” for both adults and children. Children must be at least 7 years old to ride a horse alone but are welcome in the wagon with adult supervision.
